Adults in their 40s and 50s need meal replacement as their metabolism slows down with ageing, a health expert said at a forum on Better Understanding on Nutrition and Metabolism in Manila. “Our metabolism gets slower with aging. And the reason is we start losing muscle mass — 1 percent of muscle mass every year after (turning) 40 years old ,” said Dr. Rocio Medina, a nutrition and obesity specialist.
Muscle mass is responsible for burning fat, thus the more muscle mass one has, the faster one burns calories, she said. However, since losing muscle mass comes with ageing, the inability of the body to have enough body mass as he/she ages slows down metabolism and leads to fat storage.
“A good way to maintain an active metabolism is by keeping muscle mass,” Medina said. “For women in their 40s or 50s who want to increase their muscle mass, it is really important not to over eat. But then, if you don’t eat enough, you’ll lose your muscle.”She noted that when one is young, eating protein is more than enough because hormones help build muscle mass.
“But if you’re not growing anymore, if you are over 20, 25, 30, 35, you need to exercise and add extra protein in your diet in order to build muscle,” she said.
However, the problem is that some of the sources of protein, such as meat and chicken, come with a lot of saturated fat, she said, adding that vegetables have no complete protein and may have lots of carbohydrates.
“A good source of protein without extra calories, without fat, without sugar or carbohydrates is meal replacement,” which contains the needed protein and energy fiber to keep one feeling healthy, full, satisfied and energized, Medina said.
As founder of MOBILE SIGNING SERVICES, I encountered recently two unique situations when our services helped new clients, which made them very happy because they saved not only money but also precious time.
The first unique situation happened last Monday morning, March 13, 2017. I was on a long line going to the Front Desk of the Philippine Consulate Office in San Francisco, California to submit several sets of notarized documents (e.g. Special Power of Attorney. Affidavits, Deed of Absolute Sale) for authentication. When it was my turn to meet the lady at the Front Desk, I heard her instruct the assistant of Rubenita D. Sinclair to get first a Certification from the County Clerk because the person who notarized the Deed of Assignment on Shares of Stock was not accredited by the Philippine Consul General in San Francisco.
I told the assistant of Rubenita D. Sinclair that it will take time to get the Certification from the County Clerk and it will require her to go back to the Front Desk the following day. I told her that I’m accredited Notary Public by the Philippine Consul General so we don’t need Certification from the County Clerk. I told the lady assistant to request the parties who signed the Deed of Assignment on Shares of Stock (Rubenita D. Sinclair and Aldo Mario E. Silva) to come to our Office by lunch time at ONE STOP SHOP, 447 Sutter Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, California for signing of my Journal of Notarial Acts. By noontime Rubenita D. Sinclair and Aldo Mario E .Silva came by and signed my Journal of Notarial Acts. I made copies of their I.Ds and they immediately went back to their offices.
The lady assistant of Rubenita D .Sinclair resubmitted the Deed of of Assignment on Shares of Stock notarized by me to the Front Desk. Then, the lady assistant paid $25 authentication fee and waited for the release of the authenticated set of documents on the same day. As a result, she avoided wasting one full day to go back to the Front Desk the following day. She also saved money by avoiding paying Certification Fee, additional parking fees and inconveniences.
The second unique situation happened last Thursday, April 13, 2017. Alicia Milagros B. Leduna called MOBILE SIGNING SERVICES and requested help for the notarization and authentication of the Extra Judicial Settlement of the Estate of Rufino Leduna, Sr. (their father); and Special Power of Attorney. The five Leduna brothers and sisters are all working on week days and can’t go the Philippine Consulate Office in San Francisco, California.
Alicia Milagros B. Leduna arranged for the five brothers and sisters (who live in Daly City, South San Francisco, and Hercules) to come to my home in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon ( 1 to 3 pm) last April 15, 2017 for the signing of my Journal of Notarial Acts and affixing right thumb marks and with copies of I.Ds and/ or California Driver’s Licenses.
On Monday, April 17, 2017, I submitted to the Front Desk of the Philippine Consulate Office the notarized Extra Judicial Settlement of the Estate of Rufino Leduna, Sr. and Special Power of Attorney for authentication. After paying $50 authentication fees at the Cashier ($25 per set of documents), I was able to get the authenticated documents in the afternoon. Alicia picked-up the authenticated documents in our home the following day.
With these two unique MOBILE SIGNING SERVICES, Rubenita Sinclair and the Leduna brothers and sisters didn’t have to be personally present at the Philippine Consulate Office in San Francisco to submit and follow-up the authentication of the notarized documents because I’m accredited Notary Public by the Philippine Consul General in San Francisco, California. It saved them precious time, money and avoided so much inconveniences.
