MEGA STAR Sharon Cuneta as a judge in the ABS-CBN show The Voice Kids with champions Lyca Gairanod and Ella Mae Nympha.
The mega star Sharon Cuneta is in concert mood again.
In fact, the stage is set for her two-night concert in celebration of the megastar’s stellar career at the theatre of the Solaire Resort and Casino on October 15 and 22 starting at 8 p.m. The show, dubbed simply as “Sharon,” is her first after a long hiatus.
This developed as Sharon, whose husband is Sen. Francis Pangilinan, poured her heart out on the present state of politics and governance in the country today in her Facebook account.
Based on the Facebook post, Sharon said she is saddened by recent developments in the country.
She said she grew up in the world of politics as her father, Pablo Cuneta, served for a long time as mayor of Pasay City. She said she even vowed she will not marry a politician.
“Artista at mang-aawit at TV show host lang po ako,” she said, but acknowledged that her fate brought her to marry a politician, Senator Pangilinan.
“Napakarami naming hindi pinagkasunduan ni Kiko sa paniniwala sa politika mula pa nung umpisa. Kahit kami ng Daddy ko noon ganon din,” she admitted.
“Pero dahil may respeto kami sa isa’t isa, hindi na namin kailangan pang isapubliko ang mga diskusyon naming mag-asawa noon o ngayon,” she added.
She said despite her beliefs in politics, she thinks friendship is more important. But sometimes, one has to make a difficult decision, she said.
She defended her husband for his principles and stand as a senator.
But she appealed for unity of Filipinos. “Sana magkaisa at magkaayos-ayos na ang lahat ng nagsisilbi sa bansa natin. Wala naming ibang paraan,” she said.
“Di land mga politico ang nag-aaway. Kundi tayo-tayo na ring mga magkakapatid na Pilipino. Ano ba naman yon?” she bewailed.
Audie Gemora, Solaire Resort and Casino’s director for entertainment, said clinching Sharon’s concert comeback after a long hiatus is a coup.
“In only a little over a year The Theatre at Solaire has established itself as the home of mega musicals. We also want it to be the home of OPM concerts! We are delighted that our list of OPM icons is expanding, but to have clinched Sharon Cuneta’s concert comeback after a long hiatus is a coup,” exclaimed Gemora.
The megastar is known for breathing life into masterpieces by renowned Filipino songwriters and composers. She has also appeared in big movies with top actors like the late Fernando Poe Jr.
Among her songs are the chart-busting “Mr. DJ” while she was beginning in show business, “Bituing Walang Ningning,” “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas,” “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” and “Maging Sino Ka Man.”
Promoters of “Sharon,” the concert, said expect a complete repertoire of all favorites during the show.
“From the very start, we knew that a two-night concert was a perfect call for a show of this caliber. Indeed, fans and long-time followers of Sharon will be delighted,” said Gemora.
The lure and frenzy of the concert stage remains to be the Megastar’s true passion.
“What a perfect way to celebrate an illustrious career,” said Gemora. “The Theatre at Solaire is the Crown Jewel of Solaire Resort and Casino and a venue of world-class performances,” he added.
