Welcome to Philippines and United States Today Blog!

We are starting this service to bring to Filipinos, Americans, Filipino Americans and those interested in the current affairs in the United States and the Philippines which we and fellow print and broadcast journalists and educators actually pioneered through the Phil-Am Press in 1989.

We launched Phil-Am Press at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City with the support of then Press Secretary Adolf Azcuna, who later rose to become Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and upon retired as president of the Manila Hotel and member of the Philippine Judicial Academy, among others, who was our guest of honor and speaker. We also had then Makati City Mayor Jesus Jose Maria “Jejomar” Binay as another special guest together with the US Embassy Manila’s Cultural Attache Richard Jordan.
Among the pioneers of Phil-Am Press were Publishing and Advertising Executive, Journalist and former Manila Bulletin columnist (Cocktales) Art G. Gacutan as Chairman of the Board;  Book Author, Professor, University Regent, Manila Bulletin news and section editor, former National Press Club (NPC) President, former Commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and former Chairman of the Philippine Postal Corp. Alfredo G. Gabot; journalist, editor and former Chairman of the Komisyon ng Wikang Pilipino (KWP) and Commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Jose Lad. Santos; award-winning cartoonist Roni Santiago; journalist and movie writer and director Leonardo Q. Belen, among others.

Starting this post, we will bring you news, views, features and other informative materials relevant to strengthening the bonds that bind the Philippines and America.

We do it in honor of our hero, the famous Filipino writer, novelist, essayist, poet, journalist, fighter of minority rights and labor union Carlos S. Bulosan.
